GATHERING THE SELF – FINDING YOUR OWN MEDICINE
A Journey of Renewal Using Contemplative Science

As the summer comes to fruition, “Gathering the Self” offers an opportunity to focus on our own energies and fulfilment. Using imagery, guided visualisations and contemplation, this two day course will enable us to develop our perceptions and intuition, and to concentrate on our individual healing intentions.

There will be no compulsion to share any personal insights or information, unless we wish to, but we will discuss what we find helpful and useful. There will be clear guidance given for each stage, and we will use drawing and words for creative self-expression. By the end of the second day, we will find our own particular “medicine”.

Come prepared for inner exploration and come prepared to meet your plant.

This course will take place on the beautiful island of Arran (easily reached from Glasgow), on Drimlabarra Herb Farm. Drimlabarra is run by Maureen and Keith Robertson, both eminent herbalists, combining vegan, organic, and biodynamic philosophy.

Lorraine Wood grew up in New Mexico, a land of high desert and mountains, and from an early age developed a deep appreciation of the natural world. She spent over three decades as a professional musician, touring the world and playing concerts. After developing repetitive strain injury, she began to study herbal medicine, eventually retiring from professional musical life, and has been in practice as a herbalist for over a decade.

Since gaining her MSc in Herbal Medicine (2003) at the Scottish School of Herbal Medicine, Lorraine has been particularly interested in using contemplative (Goethean) science as a means of enquiry into the study of plants, as well as a method for developing self-perception and understanding, and has enjoyed leading study days and workshops.

After decades in the performing arts, Lorraine has a particular interest in the creative aspects of stress management.
